"I asked my boss back in the late '90s
what would happen if a tsunami hit the Fukushima reactors,"
90年代後半に上司にもし津波が福島原発を襲ったら何が起きるか尋ねました
"I said surely a meltdown will happen.
私は確実にメルトダウンが起きると言いました
He said 'Kimura, you are right'.
上司は「木村、お前の言う通りだ」と
But it was made clear that the issue of a big tsunami was taboo.
しかし大津波の問題はタブーであることがはっきりしました
"If they'd moved the emergency diesel generators to a position
above the expected tsunami level it would have cost the company a lot.
予想津波水位より高く非常用ディーゼル発電機を移動させれば
会社に高いコストがかかります
So nobody proposed it,"
だから誰も提案しませんでした
木村俊雄氏は90年代後半に上司にもし津波が福島原発を襲ったら
何が起きるか尋ねたという。
木村氏は「確実にメルトダウンが起きる」と述べ、
上司も「その通りだ」と認めたという。
それを回避するためには、
予想津波水位より高い所に非常用ディーゼル発電機を移動させればよいのだが、
それには会社に高いコストが掛かる。
そのため誰もそれを提案しなかったという。
